CHESTER, PA — Power Home Remodeling (POWER) has collaborated with DonorsChoose to fulfill 1,780 project requests from teachers across the United States, celebrating National Teacher Appreciation Day. This initiative resulted in $500,000 worth of essential supplies being donated to help public school teachers enhance the learning experience within their classrooms.
In an innovative approach to employee engagement, POWER allocated $150 to each of its employees, empowering them to support classroom projects in categories they are passionate about. Categories included Food, Clothing & Hygiene; Instruments, Classroom Basics & Art Supplies; Books, Education Kits & Games; Sports & Lab Equipment; and Computers, Tablets & Technology. This strategic distribution ensured that projects within 25 miles of each POWER office received support, directly impacting local communities.
The initiative saw the highest number of projects funded in the categories of Sports & Lab Equipment and Food, Clothing, and Hygiene, reflecting the diverse needs of schools and the interests of POWER employees. In total, 1,450 teachers at 1,048 schools benefited from fully funded projects, marking a substantial contribution to educational resources in various districts.
This effort is part of POWER’s larger “Power for Good” commitment, which encourages employees to actively engage in and direct the company’s philanthropic efforts towards causes they believe in. Through this program, POWER aims to foster a culture of giving back and making a tangible impact on communities where they operate.
Dr. Anu Gupta, Vice President of Community Impact at POWER, emphasized the company’s core belief in untapped potential—not just within their business scope but also among employees and the communities they serve. Gupta highlighted the shared vision between POWER and public school teachers, both of whom are committed to unlocking the potential of their students. “We’re humbled to be able to make such a meaningful impact, in partnership with DonorsChoose,” Gupta remarked.
Katie Bisbee, Chief Revenue & Marketing Officer at DonorsChoose, expressed gratitude for POWER’s partnership, recognizing it as a testament to the company’s commitment to supporting public education. Bisbee praised POWER’s innovative approach to engaging their employees in philanthropy, setting a new standard for corporate giving and fostering advocates for educational equity.
This collaboration between Power Home Remodeling and DonorsChoose not only highlights the importance of supporting teachers and students but also demonstrates how companies can leverage employee engagement to make a significant difference in public education. The initiative reflects a growing trend of corporate responsibility focused on empowering employees and contributing to societal well-being, particularly within the education sector.
