PHILADELPHIA, PA — Philly AIDS Thrift has announced the distribution of $358,085 in grants to 34 local organizations providing HIV/AIDS prevention, care, and support across the Delaware Valley. This significant funding milestone brings the organization’s total donations to over $5 million since its inception, a testament to its dedication to turning community contributions into meaningful impact.

“This is by far my favorite moment of the entire year! To be able to have such a profound impact on programs that are doing tremendous work on behalf of individuals and communities impacted by HIV/AIDS across the Delaware Valley is truly humbling,” said Michael Byrne, Board President of Philly AIDS Thrift. “This year’s grants push us to an extraordinary milestone—over $5 million donated to the cause since our inception. We are forever grateful for our staff, our volunteers, our donors, and our loyal customers—thank you sincerely from the bottom of our hearts!”

Philly AIDS Thrift’s latest round of grants—its largest to date—reflects an ongoing commitment to supporting programs that combat the challenges of HIV/AIDS amid reduced funding and economic constraints faced by many nonprofits. Recipients include Action Wellness, Mazzoni Center, MANNA, Bebashi – Transition to Hope, and 30 other community organizations.

Founded with the mission to support those impacted by HIV/AIDS, Philly AIDS Thrift launched its Grant Program in 2014, leveraging proceeds from donations of gently used goods sold at its thrift stores. Since its inception, the program has awarded over 250 grants to more than 50 organizations, fueling initiatives ranging from healthcare services and legal assistance to education and youth support programs.

“It is amazing to all of us that we have reached this monumental milestone,” said Christina Kallas-Saritsoglou, Executive Director and Cofounder of Philly AIDS Thrift. “Our staff and volunteers work tirelessly every day to ensure we can make the biggest difference possible in the lives of people living with HIV/AIDS. We could not do it without our generous donors and enthusiastic shoppers.”

The organization invites continuous donations throughout the year, emphasizing the importance of community participation in sustaining their mission. Sales from donated items directly fund future grants, amplifying the impact of each contribution.

Looking ahead, the next grant application cycle will open in October 2025, offering another opportunity for local organizations to secure funding and continue their essential work. Philly AIDS Thrift’s enduring commitment to community aid ensures that the fight against HIV/AIDS remains resilient, providing vital resources to those who need them most.
