PHILADELPHIA, PA — The heart of Philadelphia is set to sparkle and shine this holiday season with the debut of the Festival of Trees at the LOVE Park Welcome Center (1569 John F Kennedy Blvd, Philadelphia, PA 19102). This enchanting new tradition, taking place from Thursday, November 30 to Sunday, December 24, 2023, promises to dazzle visitors while raising funds for children’s health in our community.
An awe-inspiring display of Christmas trees, crafted by local artists, makers, designers, and community volunteers, will fill the Welcome Center. Each tree, aglow with twinkling holiday lights, will feature unique adornments ranging from original art pieces and themed ornaments to whimsical keepsakes and show-stopping toppers.
Visitors can engage in the festive spirit by voting for their favorite tree design through a donation to this year’s beneficiary, the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). The top trees will vie for the coveted titles of ‘Best of Show’ and ‘People’s Choice.’
Adding to the holiday merriment, Santa will be available for photos every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday inside the festival. The Festival of Trees will be open from 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm (Sunday to Thursday) and 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm (Friday to Saturday). Admission is free, ensuring that this magical experience is accessible to all.
The Festival of Trees is the first activation of the newly renovated LOVE Park Welcome Center. For its inaugural year, the event aims to host 20 designer Christmas Trees, with themes limited only by the imagination.
A star-studded list of early designers and sponsors includes the Philadelphia Eagles, Citadel Credit Union, Philadelphia Insurance Companies, Mazza Wines, SEPTA, Philadelphia Zoo with its LumiNature Lightshow, Wawa, Philadelphia Union, Rita’s Water Ice, Westpharma, Bank of America, Voila Design Homes, LIT LÁB CO., and Mason Made. More participants will be announced on opening day, Wednesday, November 29th.
All donations collected through the voting process will support CHOP’s Children’s Fund, which provides essential support to every area of the hospital. Visitors can make their votes count by purchasing a snowflake token for a small donation and casting their vote in the ballot box in front of their favorite tree.
Additional charity activities include DIY gift tag creation from December 4th to December 21st (Monday to Thursday). Donors contributing over $10 will receive a free hot chocolate at Christmas Village in Philadelphia, located just around the corner from the festival.
“We are thrilled to launch a brand-new holiday tradition and attraction in the heart of Center City just in time for the 2023 holiday season,” said Christmas Village in Philadelphia CEO and President Thomas Bauer. “This is a wonderful opportunity to bring new life to the Southwest Corner of LOVE Park and activate the Welcome Center, while we raise money for such an important community cause.”
