PHILADELPHIA, PA — Starting Monday, May 20, a key section of Frankford Avenue in Philadelphia will be closed to traffic due to water main construction by the Philadelphia Water Department.

The closure, affecting the stretch between Norris Street and Dauphin Street, will last through Friday, May 31, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays.

Motorists are being advised to use alternate routes including Norris Street, Tulip Street, and York Street to circumvent the construction zone.

Local access will remain up to the work site, but the department warns of potential delays and recommends allowing extra travel time.

The project’s completion is contingent on favorable weather conditions and is carried out under a PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit.
