PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD) has awarded $902,000 in grants to various non-profit, governmental, and community organizations across Philadelphia. The announcement was made this week by Senator Christine Tartaglione (D-2).
The grants were awarded from several different programs, including the Nonprofit Security Grant Fund Program, Local Law Enforcement Support Grant Program, Federal STOP Violence Against Women Act Funds, State Children’s Advocacy Center Funds, Federal Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Funds, and State Violence and Delinquency Prevention Program Funds. All awards are approved pending fiscal or programmatic concerns.
Senator Tartaglione expressed her delight in announcing the resources flowing into the 2nd Senatorial District and the entire City of Philadelphia. She emphasized the importance of the Commonwealth investing in the safety and security of community buildings, religious sites, and neighborhoods.
Among the recipients of the Nonprofit Security Grant Fund Program are St. John’s Lutheran Church and Al-Hidaya Islamic Center, receiving $5,000 and $50,000 respectively.
The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) was awarded $200,000 from the Local Law Enforcement Support Grant Program.
From the State Children’s Advocacy Center Fund, the Philadelphia Children’s Assistance received $47,000.
Two organizations, Friends of Farmworkers and Nationalities Services Center of Philadelphia, were granted $125,000 each from the Federal STOP Violence Against Women Act Funds.
The Pennsylvania DMC Corporation was awarded $250,000 from the Federal Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Funds.
The Philadelphia Treasurer and Support Center for Child Advocate received $95,000 and $5,000 respectively from the State Violence and Delinquency Prevention Program Funds.
