Philadelphia Police Seek Suspect in Fatal Shooting of Elderly Man

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Philadelphia Police Department is actively seeking a suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of an 88-year-old man on March 5, 2024.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:35 pm on the 100 block of North Dewey Street. The victim, who was sitting in his car at the time, was allegedly shot multiple times by an unidentified offender and succumbed to his injuries.

Surveillance footage shows the suspect operating a silver-colored 2018-19 Nissan Altima with dark tinted windows. The vehicle was seen parked nearby before the offender walked to the scene of the shooting.

The police have released a description of the suspect, who was seen wearing a light-colored hooded sweatshirt and black long shorts over black tights.

Authorities are urging anyone who sees the suspect not to approach him but to call 911 immediately. Tips can be submitted via telephone by dialing 215.686.TIPS (8477) or texting the same number. All tips will remain confidential.
