PHILADELPHIA, PA —In a heartwarming demonstration of community spirit, PAINT Philadelphia, a local veteran-owned residential painting company, is offering a free paint job to a deserving family in the Philadelphia area. The initiative, aptly named “PAINT It Forward,” is part of the company’s ongoing commitment to give back to the community that has supported its growth.
Andrew Tomasetti, founder of PAINT Philadelphia, expressed his enthusiasm for the project. “PAINT It Forward is an amazing program that lets us offer our services to a family that needs painting services but may not have the means to do so,” he said. “The best part is it was our team’s idea.”
Tomasetti and his team established their business during the uncertain times of 2020, amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the challenges, the company experienced rapid growth, which Tomasetti attributes to the support of the local community. This inspired the team to reciprocate by giving back to those same communities through their unique skills and resources.
Last year, PAINT Philadelphia came to the aid of a single mother and her nine-year-old daughter, a three-time cancer survivor. The team painted the entire interior of their Hatboro home, a task the family had been unable to undertake due to the prohibitive costs involved. With professional home painting projects typically ranging from $5,000 to $7,000, the donation provided significant financial relief, with vendors contributing all necessary materials.
This year, the company plans to expand upon its charitable efforts. In addition to the complimentary paint job, the lucky recipient will receive a consultation with designer Rachel Zimmerman of InLiquid. Zimmerman will assist the family in choosing paint colors and selecting a few pieces of artwork to enhance their newly painted home. “Getting the color right the first time is one of the most important parts of any painting project,” said Tomasetti, emphasizing the significance of this added service.
Nominations for deserving families are now open. To nominate a candidate, simply submit a brief description outlining why the individual or family should be considered and how PAINT Philadelphia’s services could assist them. Submit your nomination at: https://paintphilly.com/charity-events/. All submissions, which will be kept confidential, must be received by February 29, 2024.
For Tomasetti, a Marine Corps Reserve veteran and Temple University graduate, the initiative is more than just a charitable act. It’s a reflection of his company’s mission to “make the world a more beautiful place one paint job at a time.” He concluded, “We want to ask ourselves what we have done to leave a positive mark on the communities we serve and help others achieve their American Dream. This is one way we can do so, and we gain an incredible amount of joy by doing it.”
As we anticipate the announcement of this year’s recipient in March, the story of PAINT Philadelphia serves as a heartening reminder of the power of community spirit and the difference that local businesses can make in the lives of those around them.
