Philadelphia Man Robbed at Chokepoint, Police Seek Information on Suspects

PHILADELPHIA, PA — In the early morning hours of February 5, 2024, a Philadelphia resident was allegedly assaulted and robbed by two unidentified men. The incident took place on the 800 block of W Venango St, according to the Philadelphia Police Department.

The victim, a 31-year-old male, was reportedly approached by the two suspects around 1:25 AM. One assailant allegedly grabbed the victim in a chokehold from behind, forcing him to the ground. The suspects then rummaged through the victim’s pockets, taking money and a Samsung cell phone before fleeing the scene.

Authorities are urging anyone who spots the suspects not to approach them but to call 911 immediately. Those with information can also submit tips via telephone by dialing 215.686.TIPS (8477) or texting a tip to the same number. All tips will be kept confidential.

The East Detective Division, under Detective Fred #764, is actively investigating the case and encourages anyone with knowledge about this crime or the suspects involved to reach out at 215-686-3243/3244.
