PHILADELPHIA, PA — Norman Copper, a 32-year-old Philadelphia resident, has been arrested and indicted on multiple firearms and narcotics charges, according to an announcement by United States Attorney Jacqueline C. Romero on Monday.
Copper is facing allegations of possessing methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, possession of firearms in furtherance of drug trafficking, and possession of firearms by a felon. The charges stem from an incident that allegedly occurred on January 24, 2024, in King of Prussia, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
According to the indictment, Copper was found in possession of methamphetamine that he intended to distribute. In addition, Copper was allegedly found to be in possession of three semi-automatic handguns and one AK-style semi-automatic rifle. The indictment further alleges that Copper had previously been convicted of a felony before he possessed these firearms.
If found guilty of the charges, Copper could face a maximum possible sentence of life imprisonment. However, it is important to note that these are allegations, and Copper is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
The case was investigated by the Upper Merion Township Police Department, the Montgomery County Detective Bureau, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. Assistant United States Attorney Lindsey T. Mills is prosecuting the case.
As this legal matter progresses, additional details may become available. Regardless, the outcome of this case serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to address illegal firearms and drug trafficking in our communities.
