DOYLESTOWN, PA — In a significant breakthrough, detectives from the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office and the Hilltown Township Police Department arrested a Philadelphia man on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, in connection with a murder case dating back to 2013.

Thomas Delgado, 50, was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Maggie Snow on several charges including criminal homicide, rape, robbery, burglary, kidnapping, criminal conspiracy, and related offenses. Delgado has been remanded to the Bucks County Correctional Facility with bail denied.

The charges stem from a chilling incident that took place in Hilltown Township, where Joseph Canazaro, 48, was found dead inside his garage. According to authorities, two men allegedly broke into Canazaro’s home, tied up Canazaro, his fiancée, and his juvenile son, and ransacked the premises, taking guns, money, jewelry, and other items. The female victim was reportedly sexually assaulted during the home invasion. Both she and the boy managed to escape and alert authorities.

An autopsy revealed that Canazaro’s cause of death was multiple stab wounds, confirming the manner of death as homicide. The alleged assailants reportedly fled the scene in Canazaro’s truck, which was later discovered at the Quakertown Plaza Shopping Center.

Detectives identified Delgado as one of the suspects following a forensic examination of evidence collected from the crime scene and the stolen truck. “These detectives have spent more than a decade seeking justice for these victims,” stated District Attorney Jen Schorn. She emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and appealed to the public for any information that may assist in the case.

Despite this arrest, it is important to remember that all crimes are allegations until proven guilty in a court of law. Delgado, like all defendants, is presumed innocent until proven otherwise.
