PHILADELPHIA, PA — Notes of joy are coming from the Philadelphia Boys and Girls Choirs (PBGC) with the Board of Directors announcement that Michelle Frank will lead the organization, effective immediately.
Frank, the holder of two master’s degrees, in vocal performance and educational leadership, brings over 20 years of experience in education, fundraising, non-profit management, and accounting to the Philadelphia Boys and Girls Choirs (PBGC). As a top musical educator in the School District of Philadelphia School for the past 15 years, she has played an instrumental role in shaping music education in the district, implementing a strategic plan and vision while training countless music educators.
“We are so pleased to have such a gifted leader and visionary join our wonderful organization,” said Rebecca Antczak, Chair of the Philadelphia Boys and Girls Choirs (PBGC). “Michelle has a unique skill set that will inspire and impact the lives of our many talented singers into the future. We have built a great foundation during the past 55 years, transforming an idea into a national program, and I am confident that both Choirs will soar under her leadership.”
In addition to her prolific work as an educator, Frank established local and national partnerships with performing arts programs as a leader for Performing and Visual Arts at Franklin Learning Center and the All-City Choir committee for eight years. She was also a choral conductor for Settlement Music School’s Music Education Pathways program. Frank is also a successful fundraiser. During her tenure as Director of Institutional Fundraising and Development Services at The Curtis Institute of Music, she was instrumental in completing their largest-ever capital campaign, raising over $40 million. She has also established local and national partnerships with performing arts programs. Frank began her career in tax consulting and audit with Ernst & Young.
“I am at home in Philadelphia, and I am thrilled to lead such a prestigious organization,” said Frank. “I have worked with hundreds of talented children and know how music and learning performance skills can empower and change lives, and I can’t wait to embark on a journey with PBGC’s gifted young people.”
Frank emphasizes that both choirs always seek talented young singers to audition. “To continue our tradition of excellence as ‘America’s Ambassadors of Song,’ we encourage new talent to join us!” All auditions will take place at 1336 Spring Garden Street.
