LOWER POTTSGROVE TWP, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced upcoming construction on U.S. 422, Sanatoga Road, and Porter Road as part of an $83.6 million project to reconstruct and enhance a 2.1-mile stretch of the expressway and replace several bridges in Lower Pottsgrove Township, Montgomery County.
From Monday, February 10, through Friday, February 14, motorists should anticipate intermittent lane closures and brief traffic stoppages at various locations to accommodate roadwork and bridge construction. Key details include the following schedules:
- Westbound U.S. 422: Lane closures between Evergreen Road (Sanatoga Interchange) and Armand Hammer Boulevard from 4:00 AM to 2:00 PM for road and bridge work. Additional closures will occur between Route 100 and Keim Street from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM for sign construction.
- Eastbound U.S. 422: Lane closures between Keim Street and Route 100 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM for sign construction and between Keim Street and Evergreen Road from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM for road and bridge reconstruction.
- Porter Road and Sanatoga Road: Intermittent single lane closures with 15-minute stoppages will take place between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM in both directions on Porter Road (from E. High Street to Sanatoga Station Road) and Sanatoga Road (from E. High Street to Linfield Road) for bridge construction.
Drivers are encouraged to allow additional travel time, as delays and backups are expected. PennDOT advises that all construction activities are weather-dependent and subject to change.
This work is part of a larger initiative to improve safety and traffic flow in the area. Scheduled for completion in the coming years, the multi-million-dollar project aims to modernize the region’s infrastructure by addressing critical roadway and bridge needs.
