PennDOT Schedules Bridge Inspection on I-95; Commuters Advised to Expect Delays

Traffic Alert

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has issued an advisory for motorists traveling on northbound Interstate 95 in Philadelphia, announcing a scheduled bridge inspection that may cause traffic delays.

Slated for Friday, January 12, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, the inspection will necessitate a left lane closure at the Allegheny Avenue/Castor Avenue Interchange. Given the likelihood of slowdowns during this period, PennDOT officials are advising motorists to factor in additional travel time when planning their journeys.

The impending inspection is part of PennDOT’s rigorous bridge assessment program, which mandates that all bridges be inspected at least once every two years. This proactive measure ensures the safety and overall condition of these critical infrastructures, helping prevent unforeseen issues and maintain the smooth flow of traffic.

As always, the scheduled activities are subject to weather conditions, with inclement weather possibly leading to rescheduling. Nonetheless, motorists are advised to stay informed about the latest updates and plan their commutes accordingly on the day of the inspection.
