LANCASTER, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) will host a job fair on Tuesday, June 11, to fill various summer positions in Lancaster County.
The event will take place from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the PennDOT Lancaster County Maintenance Office, located at 2105 Lincoln Highway East.
The job fair aims to recruit for the following roles:
- Government Service Intern ($16.67/hr.): This position is for recent high school graduates or current college students enrolled full-time for the fall semester. Interns will work on roadway maintenance crews.
- Highway Maintenance Worker ($16.67/hr.): This role involves working on a highway maintenance crew. While no previous experience is required, applicants must be able to lift or move heavy objects.
- PennDOT CDL Operator Trainee ($20.35/hr.): This six-month trainee position involves operating construction and maintenance equipment on highways.
- PennDOT CDL Operator ($22.05/hr.): Operators in this role will plow snow and work on construction sites, performing manual labor, minor repairs, and preventative maintenance on equipment.
During the job fair, staff will discuss current and future openings, particularly for CDL operators and diesel equipment mechanics. CDL operator applicants must have a valid Pennsylvania CDL Class A or B license with the air brake restriction removed, along with a current medical examiner certificate. Diesel equipment mechanics need a valid CDL and a Pennsylvania Class 7 inspector mechanic certification.
On-the-spot applications, interviews, and driving skills tests will be conducted. Applicants should bring their current CDL license and medical examiners card. Human Resources staff will be available to assist with the electronic application system and discuss benefits and permanent employment opportunities.
Potential candidates should bring two forms of identification as there may be opportunities for on-the-spot interviews and conditional job offers.
