PHILADELPHIA, PA — In an ambitious bid to enhance the city’s infrastructure and improve connections between Center City and the Delaware River waterfront, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced a three-week closure of the Lombard Circle ramp to northbound Interstate 95. The closure, which begins on Wednesday, January 10, is part of the comprehensive $329 million I-95/CAP project.
From Wednesday, January 10, through to Wednesday, January 25, the ramp at Lombard Circle and Columbus Boulevard to northbound I-95 will be closed from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM each day. This closure is necessary to allow for demolition activities related to the project. During these hours, traffic will be rerouted to the northbound I-95 ramp from Columbus Boulevard near Catherine Street.
Given the extent of the work and the importance of the route, motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area, as backups and delays are likely to occur. As with any outdoor construction work, all scheduled activities are dependent on the weather.
