PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced scheduled construction on westbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway), part of a $37.9 million project aimed at resurfacing and repairing nearly five miles of the interstate. The project also includes work on associated ramps and over 20 bridges through Philadelphia and Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County.
Work is slated for Monday, January 13, and Tuesday, January 14, between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM. During this time, periodic lane closures will affect sections of westbound I-76 between the I-676 and U.S. 1 South (City Avenue) interchanges.
Officials have urged motorists to plan for additional travel time, as significant delays and backups are expected in the vicinity of the construction zones. PennDOT emphasized that all operations are contingent on weather conditions.
Motorists are encouraged to stay informed and exercise patience during the construction period.
