PENN Entertainment Reports Solid Third Quarter with Strategic Developments

Penn Entertainment

WYOMISSING, PAPENN Entertainment, Inc. (Nasdaq: PENN) has announced its financial outcomes for the third quarter of 2024, reporting stable revenues of $1.4 billion. The company achieved an adjusted EBITDAR of $471.7 million, maintaining a margin of 33.8%.

CEO and President Jay Snowden highlighted the quarter’s performance, stating, “PENN’s third quarter results were consistent with the preliminary estimates we disclosed last month in connection with our investor event in Las Vegas.” He noted that while there was stable consumer demand in the retail segment, challenges were faced in the Northeast due to unfavorable hold and in the South from weather disruptions and hotel renovations.

The Interactive segment showed promising results with revenues of $244.6 million, despite an adjusted EBITDA loss of $90.9 million. This segment benefitted from an improved hold, driven by a higher parlay mix and reduced promotional expenses. PENN’s recent launch of account linking between ESPN BET and ESPN marks a significant step towards a personalized sports betting experience.

Snowden also pointed out that PENN is actively enhancing its customer offerings, with initiatives such as rebranding ESPN BET retail sportsbooks and accelerating renovations at L’Auberge Casino Lake Charles. “We are seeing higher value per customer from guests staying in the renovated rooms to-date,” he added.

The company remains financially robust, with total liquidity of $1.8 billion as of September 30, 2024, and cash and cash equivalents of $834.0 million. PENN’s ongoing commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives has also been acknowledged, with recognition from the Forum of Executive Women and DiversityComm Magazine.
