PECO Energy to Begin Utility Construction on U.S. 13 in Philadelphia

Traffic Restrictions

PHILADELPHIA, PA — PECO Energy is slated to start utility construction on U.S. 13, also known as 38th Street, in Philadelphia, beginning Tuesday, January 2, 2024.

The construction is part of an effort to upgrade the city’s utility infrastructure and is expected to cause significant traffic disruptions. From January 2 through January 19, 2024, a round-the-clock lane closure is scheduled on northbound U.S. 13 between Spruce Street and Woodland Avenue.

Motorists are advised to anticipate delays when traveling through or near the work areas. Extra travel time should be factored into commutes and other trips due to expected backups. As always, all scheduled activities are contingent upon weather conditions.

The utility construction on U.S. 13 is being carried out under a PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit, which allows PECO Energy to perform essential upgrades and maintenance on the roadway.
