FREDERICK TOWNSHIP, PA — Residents of Upper Frederick Township in Montgomery County, brace yourselves for a month of traffic slowdowns. Starting next Wednesday, January 17, PECO Energy will begin utility construction work on Route 29 (Gravel Pike), announced the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT).

The construction, which will last until Friday, February 16, will result in weekday lane closures and flagging between Deep Creek Road and Upper Ridge Road from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. This lane closure comes at a time when local residents are already grappling with winter weather conditions, adding an additional layer of complexity to daily commutes and errands.

Motorists who rely on this stretch of road are advised to allow extra time when traveling through or near the work area. The combination of construction work and potential winter weather could lead to significant backups and delays. As always, all scheduled activities are contingent on the weather, adding an element of unpredictability to the situation.

This project is being carried out under a PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit.

PennDOT and PECO Energy urge all drivers to exercise caution when approaching construction zones. Remember, patience is not only a virtue but also a necessity during this period of necessary infrastructure improvement. Stay tuned for updates as this project progresses.
