PHILADELPHIA, PA — Papa Johns Pizza of Philadelphia announced on Friday that the Papa Johns Foundation for Building Community has granted $20,000 to several local nonprofit organizations in the Philadelphia area. The funds are earmarked to bolster their efforts in strengthening the local community.
The list of beneficiaries includes the Children’s Scholarship Fund Philadelphia, which received a generous donation of $7,500. These funds will be utilized to provide scholarships for K-8 grade students from under-resourced families in Philadelphia.
The Philabundance Food Bank, another recipient, was awarded $10,000. This substantial contribution will assist the food bank in providing daily meals to children, families, and seniors who are struggling with food insecurity.
The Ronald McDonald House Philadelphia also benefited with a grant of $2,500. The funds will support families with seriously ill children, offering them the necessary care and comfort during challenging times.
The Papa Johns Foundation for Building Community, which operates in nearly 40 states across the United States, is awarding a total of $1.4 million to 270 organizations. These organizations align with the Foundation’s focus areas – youth leadership and entrepreneurship, food security, and food waste reduction.
The grants are part of a broader initiative, launched earlier in 2023, where Papa Johns of Philadelphia and other franchisees applied for grants to support the work of these organizations in their respective communities.
Rob Lynch, president and CEO of Papa Johns, spoke about the company’s core values and the importance of supporting community-building efforts. “These grants from The Papa Johns Foundation for Building Community are our latest effort to deliver on three of our company’s core values – People First, Do the Right Thing and Everyone Belongs,” he said.
Lynch further emphasized the critical role of organizations that empower the next generation of leaders, combat hunger, and reduce food waste. “We are proud to partner with franchise owners such as Papa Johns Philadelphia to support our shared goals of building healthier, stronger communities and creating new opportunities for the people who live in them,” he added.
