PHILADELPHIA, PA — Senator Vincent Hughes has announced the recent allocation of over $7.5 million for three critical water infrastructure improvement projects in Philadelphia and Montgomery County. The funds, sourced from the H2O PA Fund, will be channeled towards initiatives in Conshohocken, Whitemarsh Township, and Philadelphia.
Senator Hughes expressed pride in the substantial investment being made into the region’s infrastructure. “These are significant investments that will make water systems more efficient and reliable for the many residents who depend on this critical infrastructure,” said Senator Hughes.
The H2O PA Fund was established by the General Assembly to provide single-year or multi-year grants to municipalities or municipal authorities. The aim is to assist with the construction of drinking water, sanitary sewer, and stormwater projects. In 2022, the Fund received a substantial boost, with over $200 million in American Rescue Plan dollars being appropriated to support projects throughout Pennsylvania.
The award recipients in the 7th district include Whitemarsh Township, which will receive $642,950 for the construction of a new stormwater conveyance system. The Conshohocken Borough Authority will be granted $1,454,471 for improvements to the wastewater treatment plant located in Conshohocken. Lastly, the Philadelphia Water Department will receive $5,477,902 for upgrades to the Queen Lane Raw Water Pump Station Power located in Philadelphia.
This significant financial injection into the region’s water infrastructure aims to ensure that residents will continue to have access to reliable and efficient water systems.
