PHILADELPHIA, PA — Senator Christine Tartaglione (D-2) has announced that the Commonwealth Financing Agency will award $1,073,969 in Arts & Culture grants. These grants will fund projects in the 2nd District, as well as programs that will benefit the entire city of Philadelphia.
“These grants are a testament to the Commonwealth’s commitment to the cultural richness of our city and our state,” said Senator Tartaglione. The funding promises to be a significant boost for the arts community in Philadelphia by providing the resources needed to amplify their impact.
The grants are allocated through the COVID-19 ARPA PA Arts and Culture Recovery Program. This program was created to support nonprofit arts and culture organizations, local arts and culture districts, and arts and culture professionals located in the Commonwealth. The aim is to ensure the stability of the Commonwealth’s arts and culture sector, which has been significantly impacted by the pandemic.
Among those receiving funding are Artistas y Musicos Latino Americanos ($10,000), ARTZ Philadelphia ($13,928), COSACOSA art at large, Inc. ($10,558), and Enchantment Theatre Company ($11,294).
The Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance will receive the largest grant of $558,387, while the Philadelphia Orchestra Association, Walnut Street Theatre Corp, and the Zoological Society of Philadelphia DBA Philadelphia Zoo will each receive $95,000.
Other recipients include JUNK ($10,636), Philadelphia Chamber Music Society ($56,123), Philadelphia Scenic Works ($18,848), Philadelphia Youth Orchestra ($47,786), Taller Puertorriqueño ($38,375), and Theatre Philadelphia ($13,034).
Programs eligible for the grants encompass a broad range of creative initiatives, including Arts Organizations, Culture Organizations, Arts or Culture Organizations that manage a Local Arts or Culture District, Museums, and more.
This significant funding injection aims to maintain and enhance Philadelphia’s vibrant creative scene, ensuring the continued provision of essential services to local communities and enhancing the city’s cultural landscape.
