NEWARK, DE — The OpenSSL Corporation and the OpenSSL Foundation have announced the formation of Technical Advisory Committees (TACs) to enhance their technical decision-making and ensure alignment with the needs of the diverse OpenSSL community. These advisory bodies will provide expert guidance on the development of OpenSSL’s core library, cryptographic technologies, and governance policies.
The TACs aim to represent a broad range of stakeholders, including academics, committers, distributions, individuals, as well as large and small businesses. By incorporating input from these varied groups, the TACs will help shape OpenSSL’s development roadmap, security standards, and technical strategies, while working in coordination with Business Advisory Committees (BACs).
“TACs are a vital step for OpenSSL, ensuring the voices of our community are reflected in key decisions,” said Tim Hudson, President of the OpenSSL Corporation.

These committees are set to strengthen governance frameworks, support the adoption of cutting-edge cryptographic technologies, and ensure OpenSSL remains responsive to the evolving needs of its global user base.
For the OpenSSL community, the TACs represent an opportunity to play an active role in shaping the future of one of the most widely used cryptographic libraries in the world.
