PHILADELPHIA, PA — Ebony Pratt, a North Philadelphia native and entrepreneur, has opened the Fashion Retail & Style Institute in Kensington to equip future leaders in the fashion and retail industry with essential skills for success.

Located at 426 E. Allegheny Avenue, Suite 4W, the institute offers a 12-week program beginning on Monday, January 20, 2025. The curriculum will cover key aspects of fashion design, merchandising, retail operations, marketing, and entrepreneurship. Students will conclude the program by building their own e-commerce boutique as a final project.

Pratt, owner of the successful business Fashion Dealer Society, launched the school to give back to her community while sharing her expertise. “I wanted to equip young people to start and manage their own fashion-focused businesses,” said Pratt, whose experience spans from working in Center City boutiques to managing her own retail operations.

The program includes 240 hours of coursework broken into modules such as Fashion Fundamentals, Retail Operations and Technology, and Marketing and Brand Management. Hands-on workshops and assignments ensure that students gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.

The institute is licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and approved by PA CareerLink, allowing eligible students to access up to $6,000 in tuition scholarships. The total cost of the program is $6,300, with payment plans available.

Pratt’s school represents a turning point for aspiring entrepreneurs in the community, offering them the knowledge and confidence to succeed in the competitive fashion industry. Classes meet four days a week, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
