PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced overnight closures of the ramp from Girard Avenue to westbound I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) as part of a $37.9 million infrastructure project to improve nearly five miles of the interstate, including more than 20 bridges in Philadelphia and Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County.
The closure will take place each night from Monday, March 31, through Friday, April 4, between 9:00 PM and 5:00 AM the following morning. During these hours, traffic from Girard Avenue will be directed to a detour that includes Belmont Avenue and Montgomery Drive to access the westbound I-76 ramp.
The ongoing construction work, which includes resurfacing, repairs, and bridge joint sealing, aims to enhance the durability and safety of this critical transportation corridor.
Motorists are advised to plan for potential delays, allow additional travel time, and exercise caution near the work zone. All construction activities are subject to weather conditions and may be adjusted as necessary.
