NEWTOWN TWP, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that ongoing roadway construction will affect two state highways in Newtown Township, Delaware County, causing significant traffic disruptions.

From Tuesday, July 9, through Friday, July 19, night lane closures will be in place on Route 3 (West Chester Pike) between Boot Road and Charles Ellis Drive. These closures will occur from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM for milling and paving.

Additionally, from Monday, July 15, through Friday, August 30, daytime lane closures will take effect on weekdays from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. These closures will also occur on Route 3 between Boot Road and Bryn Mawr Avenue for roadway construction.

A major closure is scheduled for the weekend of July 26. Bryn Mawr Avenue will be closed at its intersection with Route 3 from 7:00 PM on Friday, July 26, until 6:00 AM on Monday, July 29, for drainage installation. Motorists will be directed to use Route 3 and Route 320 (Sproul Road) during this period. Local access will be maintained up to the work zone.

Drivers should plan for extra travel time as backups and delays are expected. All activities are weather dependent and may be rescheduled if necessary. PennDOT urges motorists to exercise patience and caution during these periods.
