PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced the commencement of nighttime construction activities next week aimed at installing Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) components across three major interstates in the Philadelphia area. These installations are crucial for enhancing traffic management and safety features along these vital corridors.
From Sunday, September 15, through Wednesday, September 18, motorists will encounter lane closures on several key routes. Eastbound Interstate 76, spanning from Girard Avenue to Spring Garden Street, will see lane restrictions from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM. Concurrently, southbound I-95 will suffer alternating lane closures from Bristol to Columbus Boulevard, as will the northbound lanes between Woodhaven Road and Columbus Boulevard. Additionally, I-676 in both directions between I-95 and I-76 will experience similar closures during these hours.
Furthermore, westbound I-76 will have lane closures from Grays Ferry Avenue to King of Prussia, affecting Montgomery County commuters. The following week, from Monday, September 16, to Thursday, September 19, northbound I-95 will also undergo lane closures between I-476 and Ridley Park in Delaware County.
