WEST CONSHOHOKEN, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced continued nighttime construction activities on I-476 next week as part of a $63.7 million project aimed at improving nearly 17 miles of the roadway, ramps, and bridges from I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) in Montgomery County to I-95 in Delaware County.
From Monday, January 6, through Friday, January 10, nightly lane closures will occur on both directions of I-476 between the I-76 and I-95 interchanges. The closures will be in place from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, allowing crews to replace drainage inlets, trim trees, and install guiderails.
Additionally, lane closures will affect eastbound MacDade Boulevard between Bullens Lane and Fairview Road in Ridley Township from January 6 through February 7, between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM, for bridge repair work.
This extensive project includes resurfacing I-476 lanes, bridge repairs on 49 structures, and updates to stormwater management systems, sound walls, and slope stabilization elements. New pavement markings, rumble strips, signs, and guiderails will also be installed to enhance driving safety.
H&K Group, Inc. of Skippack, Pennsylvania, is managing the federally funded project, which is expected to conclude in late 2025.
Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time through the construction zones, as delays are anticipated. PennDOT emphasizes that these efforts aim to extend the interstate’s design life while improving safety and ride quality for all motorists.
