MIDDLETOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced upcoming nighttime bridge repair operations that will affect traffic flow on Front Street in South Philadelphia and on I-295 in Middletown Township, Bucks County. These essential repairs are part of ongoing efforts to maintain and enhance the region’s infrastructure.
The scheduled repairs will commence on Monday, November 18, with specific lane closures planned to minimize disruptions during peak daytime hours. On Monday and Wednesday, November 20, from 2:00 AM to 5:00 AM, the right lane of southbound Front Street between Oregon Avenue and Packer Avenue will be closed for steel repair work. This section of roadway is a critical artery for South Philadelphia, and the repairs are vital for ensuring its structural integrity.
In Middletown Township, bridge repairs on I-295 will necessitate single lane closures on both eastbound and westbound approaches to U.S. 1. Starting Monday, November 18, through Friday, November 22, eastbound I-295 will have a single lane closed from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning. Similarly, from Wednesday, November 20, through Friday, November 22, westbound I-295 will experience the same overnight lane closures. These measures are intended to ensure the safety and longevity of the bridges serving this busy highway.
Motorists traveling through these areas are advised to plan for additional travel time and potential delays due to the lane restrictions. The repairs are weather dependent. Drivers can remain informed about current road conditions by visiting the MyChesCo Traffic Center.
