DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced plans for barrier installation along Interstate 95 in Delaware County. The operation, which will take place at night, is set to begin next week and may cause significant delays for motorists.
Weather permitting, the work will commence on Wednesday, December 20, and continue through Thursday, December 21. During these nights, a single lane closure will be implemented from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM. This will then escalate to a double lane closure from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM on both the northbound and southbound lanes of I-95. The affected area stretches between the Kerlin Street (Exit 5) and Interstate 476 (Exit 7) interchanges.
This construction is part of PennDOT’s ongoing effort to improve and maintain the state’s road infrastructure. However, it does mean that drivers should anticipate disruptions during their travels. Significant backups and delays are expected, and motorists are therefore advised to allow extra time when planning their trips through the work zone.
