WEST CONSHOHOCKEN, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is pressing forward with significant nighttime construction activities on the I-476 corridor, aimed at enhancing travel efficiency and safety across Delaware and Montgomery counties. The projects involve critical improvements to the interstate itself, as well as associated ramps and bridges, under two major initiatives.
Motorists should prepare for the following disruptions:
- Monday, October 14, through Friday, October 18: Nightly closures will occur on sections of northbound and southbound I-476 between the I-76 and I-95 interchanges. These closures, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM, will facilitate paving, bridge repair, and guiderail installation.
- Monday, October 14, through Friday, October 18: Another closure will impact eastbound and westbound lanes of I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) between Matsonford Road and I-476 in West Conshohocken Borough, as crews undertake essential bridge repairs.
These activities are crucial components of a broader infrastructure campaign. The median reconstruction on MacDade Boulevard is encompassed within a $16.2 million project focused on enhancing travel conditions and safety at the I-476 and MacDade Boulevard interchange. Concurrently, the comprehensive work on I-476, which includes paving, bridge repair, and guiderail replacement, is part of a $63.7 million project aimed at resurfacing and upgrading approximately 17 miles of the interstate from I-76 in West Conshohocken Borough to I-95 in Ridley Township.
PennDOT advises drivers to anticipate delays and extended travel times in the affected areas, emphasizing that all planned activities are contingent upon favorable weather conditions.
