PHILADELPHIA, PA — Next week, the nocturnal landscape of Philadelphia’s Roosevelt Expressway will shift to accommodate essential pavement repairs, part of a $100.6 million project aimed at revitalizing the Wayne Junction Viaduct. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has slated single lane closures on both northbound and southbound U.S. 1, stretching from Fox Street to Interstate 76.
From Monday, May 13, through Friday, April 17, drivers should expect disruptions between 6:00 PM and 5:30 AM, and again over the weekend starting May 17, with potential double lane closures. This necessary inconvenience is set to fortify the expressway’s durability over the SEPTA tracks and through the Nicetown neighborhood.
Motorists are advised to budget additional travel time to navigate the anticipated slowdowns. All work is contingent on cooperative weather.
