NEWARK, DE — Delaware State Police have arrested Francis Veltre, 51, of Newark, Delaware, in connection with two warehouse burglaries that took place last month.
The incidents occurred overnight between February 4 and 5, 2024. According to troopers, two suspects arrived at AMS Fulfillment on Ogletown Road in a white pickup truck. One individual allegedly entered the warehouse and stole a shirt while the second suspect remained in the truck.
The suspects reportedly returned to the same location hours later, where several items, including an HP laptop, were allegedly stolen. Later that morning, the same truck was observed at Winebow on Ruthar Drive. The suspects purportedly worked together to pry open a cage containing propane tanks and made off with four large tanks.
Through their investigation, Troop 2 Burglary Detectives identified Veltre as one of the suspects. On March 5, 2024, a search warrant was executed at a residence on Harmony Road, Newark. Veltre was located and taken into custody without incident.
Charges against Veltre include third degree burglary, theft of $1,500 or greater, two counts of second degree conspiracy, theft under $1,500, and criminal mischief. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and held at Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $6,500 secured bond.
It is important to remember that these are allegations, and Veltre is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The investigation into the identity of the second suspect continues. Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact Detective M. Kerrigan at 302-365-8487 or Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-847-3333.
