New Castle County Invites Citizens to Participate in Police Academy

NEW CASTLE, DE — The New Castle County Division of Police is set to launch its Citizen’s Police Academy this February, offering local residents a unique opportunity to gain insight into the operations, values, and goals of a career in law enforcement.

The academy, which is designed to provide a working knowledge of the duties and responsibilities of police officers, will commence on Thursday, February 1, 2024. The program comprises eight three-hour sessions that will take place weekly for a duration of eight weeks.

The opening ceremony is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on February 1, 2024 at the Cpl. Robert L. Snow Training and Conference Center located on the first floor of the Cpl. Paul J. Sweeney Public Safety Building.

Participants can look forward to both academic and hands-on experiences throughout the course of the program. By participating in the Citizen’s Police Academy, citizens of New Castle County can expect to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and rewards of a career in law enforcement.
