New Castle County Extends Deadline for Sewer Bill Payments Amid Postal Service Delays

New Castle County DE

NEW CASTLE, DE — Residents of New Castle County are getting a reprieve on their sewer bills. County Executive Matt Meyer recently announced a three-week extension to the payment deadline due to delays in bill delivery by the United States Postal Service.

Residents who receive sewer services from New Castle County should have received their bills to be delivered by February 16, 2024. Operational changes at the Postal Service resulted in unforeseen delays. Recognizing that county residents should not be held accountable for these setbacks, Meyer promptly extended the due date for the annual residential sewer bill to March 22, 2024.

“When our office was alerted that residents had not received their annual sewer bills as expected, we immediately investigated the situation,” said County Executive Meyer. “We learned that the delay had been caused by operational changes at the United States Postal Service. As such, it seemed only fair to extend the payment deadline.”

This decision is significant for residents of New Castle County, who now have more time to plan their finances around this annual expense. The extension also underscores the county’s commitment to its residents, demonstrating flexibility and understanding in the face of challenges beyond the control of individual citizens.

The county has also ensured that residents can access their annual sewer bill at any time online via the county’s website at Parcelview. This move provides a convenient alternative to traditional postal delivery, helping residents avoid potential future disruptions.

Moreover, New Castle County offers fee-free online payments, further simplifying the process for residents. Payments can be made directly from a checking or savings account using the eCheck option or with any major debit or credit card. Digital wallet options such as PayPal, PayPal Credit, Venmo, Apple Pay, and Google Pay are also available, offering residents a variety of options to settle their bills.

For any questions or concerns regarding their residential sewer bills, residents are encouraged to contact the New Castle County Treasury Department at treasury@newcastlede.gov or (302) 395-5340.
