WALLINGFORD, PA — On February 5, 2024, the Nether Providence Police Department arrested a local man following allegations of a domestic dispute that reportedly involved threats of lethal violence. Joseph Lurwick, 34, is accused of threatening his wife with a gun during an argument at their residence in the Garden City section of the Nether Providence Township.
Police were dispatched to the 400 block of New Jersey Avenue shortly after midnight, where they met with the female complainant about a block away from the residence. She alleged that Lurwick had pointed a gun at her and threatened to kill her.
Officers Montgomery, Bonnes, and Culbreath proceeded to the residence, where they arrested Lurwick without incident. They also recovered a handgun matching the description given by the victim.
Lurwick was held for processing and arraignment, where his bail was set at $50,000 unsecured. He faces several charges, including possession of instruments of crime, aggravated assault, attempted aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, and making terroristic threats.
