WEST READING, PA — Tower Health announced this week the appointment of eminent cardiac surgeon, Dr. Rohinton Morris, as the system’s new Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery. Dr. Morris, a distinguished figure in the medical field, will assume the role this spring.
With a career marked by significant contributions to cardiothoracic surgery, Dr. Morris currently serves as the Chief of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Jefferson Health. His roles also include Co-Director of the Cardiovascular Service Line and Medical Director at the Jefferson School of Perfusion and Extra-Corporeal Technology. A respected member of the Department of Surgery’s Executive Committee, Dr. Morris is also a Professor of Surgery at the Sidney Kimmel College of Medicine. He will officially join Tower Health on April 15, 2024.
Dr. Morris expressed his anticipation for his new role, stating, “I am excited to join Tower Health, and I’m looking forward to leading the outstanding Cardiothoracic Surgery team. Together, through our knowledge and expertise, we will continue to provide high-quality care to patients and their families and work to enhance the program across the system.”
Recognized as one of Philadelphia Magazine’s Top Doctors and listed as one of the “Top Surgeons in America” by Castle-Connolly, Dr. Morris has an impressive track record. He is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS), a Board Member of the Delaware Valley STS, and past President of the Pennsylvania Association of Thoracic Surgery. Furthermore, he is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Medical Association, Eastern Cardiothoracic Surgical Society, International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation, Philadelphia Academy of Surgeons, and Philadelphia Medical Society.
Dr. Morris’ educational background includes a bachelor’s degree from Juniata College and a medical degree from Hahnemann University. He is currently pursuing a Master’s of Public Health (M.P.H.) at George Washington University. His academic contributions include lecturing, teaching, and extensive research, with over 70 peer-reviewed publications to his name.
