LOWER MERION TWP, PA — In a move towards bolstering the infrastructure of Montgomery County, the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) recently allocated $3,048,755 in grants through the Multimodal Transportation Fund (MTF). This funding aims to spur economic development and provide residents with a safer, more reliable transportation system.
Senator Amanda M. Cappelletti (D-17) underscored the importance of such investments, stating, “How our future goes is decided by the investments we make today, and investing in our infrastructure benefits everyone who lives in, works in, and visits our communities.” The MTF supports projects that enhance transportation assets within communities, including streetscapes, lighting, sidewalks, pedestrian safety, and connectivity of transportation assets and transit-oriented development.
Representative Tim Briggs (D-149) highlighted the local and state collaboration’s role in advancing these projects. He expressed particular enthusiasm for the Moore Road multiuse trail and roadway enhancement project and the connection of Renaissance Park to Discovery Labs. These initiatives are seen as critical steps towards sustainable urban development and improved community connectivity.
Representative Mary Jo Daley (D-148) also praised the grant recipients for their commitment to creating more accessible communities through the construction of pedestrian pathways. “By receiving funding to construct pedestrian pathways, you’re not just building paths; you’re paving the way for safer, more accessible communities,” Daley remarked.
The awarded projects represent a diverse range of initiatives aimed at enhancing the county’s transportation infrastructure:
- Innovation 411 Fee Owner LLC received $330,000 for the expansion of Renaissance Boulevard in Upper Merion Township, a project that promises to improve access and stimulate economic growth.
- KGSB Investor, LLC was awarded $1,378,176 for constructing transportation infrastructure at One Belmont Avenue in Lower Merion Township. This development is expected to address critical transportation needs and support economic development in the area.

- Upper Merion Township received $612,649 for preliminary engineering and design costs associated with developing a multiuse trail and roadway improvements along Moore Road. This project underscores the commitment to creating safer, more interconnected communities.
These grants represent a vital investment in the safety and well-being of Montgomery County’s residents, promoting not only economic development but also fostering a more pedestrian-friendly environment. As these projects unfold, they are expected to significantly contribute to the region’s overall quality of life, underscoring the importance of strategic infrastructure investment in ensuring a prosperous future for all community members.
