WILMINGTON, DE — The Maritime Transportation System Information Sharing and Analysis Center (MTS-ISAC) will host its sixth annual Maritime Cybersecurity Summit on November 19–20. The summit will be held at The Parador in Houston, Texas, with an optional third day of practitioner training on November 21.

This year’s event, themed “Navigating the Digital Seas,” aims to tackle cybersecurity, resilience, and safety in the maritime sector amidst evolving threats and technological advancements. Industry professionals from shoreside operations, vessel owner-operators, energy sectors, and government agencies will gather to discuss these challenges and learn from experts.

“Our industry is going through a rapid digital transformation,” said Shawn Whiteside, MTS-ISAC’s executive director. “Threat actors, including advanced persistent threats, are bypassing defenses to disrupt maritime critical infrastructure—IT, OT, and IoT. This year’s Summit will cover topics like risk versus compliance management, vessel and shoreside challenges, evolving threats, technology integrations, and business issues like boardroom conversations, maritime cyber legal challenges, and government initiatives. We look forward to seeing everyone in Houston this November.”

The summit will feature two tracks: one for business leaders and another for technical cybersecurity professionals. Attendees will also have ample networking opportunities. The training sessions on the third day will focus on harmonizing key elements of a strong cybersecurity program, offering ways to establish or improve defenses, and providing practical demonstrations.

Scott Dickerson, MTS-ISAC strategic advisor and founder of the Maritime Cybersecurity Summit, noted the importance of learning from real-world experiences. “A key difference this year is the inclusion of case studies from incident responders and subject matter experts. Sharing lessons learned is crucial for maritime practitioners to fortify their cybersecurity defenses. The Summit has grown over the past six years, and 2024 promises the most diverse and effective agenda yet.”
