PHILADELPHIA, PA — Manayunk, a vibrant neighborhood nestled on the banks of the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia, is set to shine brighter than ever this holiday season. On Thursday, November 16, 2023, the Manayunk Development Corporation will host a dazzling tree-lighting ceremony and kick off the 4th annual Manayunk Gets Lit decorating competition.
The festivities begin at 5:30 PM at Canal View Park, located at 4418 Main Street, and conclude at 7:15 PM. This year, attendees can look forward to a Hallmark movie-style transformation of Main Street, complete with a gigantic holiday tree, dozens of illuminated buildings, live performances, and potentially, snow flurries!
The evening’s program will feature live performances by The City Belles, Maggie Mae, and Koser. Adding to the holiday cheer, Santa himself will arrive atop a Fire Truck from Engine 12, ready to meet and greet attendees of all ages. Families can enjoy writing letters to Santa and reveling in the festive atmosphere.
In addition to the tree lighting, November 16 also marks the official launch of the much-anticipated Manayunk Gets Lit decorating competition. More than 50 local businesses will vie for the best holiday decor title, turning the entire district into a twinkling wonderland. After the tree-lighting ceremony, guests are invited to stroll along Main Street to admire the spectacular displays.
As a special treat, Taqueria Amor will be hosting the Senor Grinch Christmas Pop-up, which opens on the same night. Be sure to stop by for some delicious Mexican fare amid the holiday cheer!
