MANAYUNK, PHILADELPHIA — The festive season is upon us, and Manayunk is set to shine even brighter as the community gears up to celebrate Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights. Kicking off the festivities is the highly anticipated ‘8 Crazy Nights’ Giveaway Contest that runs from December 7 through December 15.
The Instagram contest, hosted by Manayunk, offers followers the opportunity to win a different gift each night from local businesses in the area. This year’s prizes are sure to delight, with offerings ranging from spa memberships to fashionable merchandise, dining experiences, and gift cards from local retail outlets.
Adding to the holiday cheer, the Jolly Trolley returns, offering free rides on December 7, 8, 9, and 14. Not only does the trolley provide a perfect way to take in the impressive ‘Manayunk Gets Lit’ light displays and decorations, but riders will also receive Hanukkah goodie bags brimming with treats like chocolate gelt, dreidels, candy, and stickers.
A highlight of the Hanukkah celebrations in Manayunk is the community Menorah lighting scheduled for the final night of the holiday, December 14. At 7 p.m., visitors are invited to join Rabbi Yitzchok Gurevitz and the local community at Canal View Park (4418 Main Street) for a candle lighting ceremony. The menorah will be lit against the backdrop of over 150,000 twinkling lights lining Main Street.
“Celebrating in the Manayunk community is a wonderful way to end the eight days of celebrating. The Menorah will shine bright in Canal View Park. We invite everyone in the community to join us,” shared Rabbi Gurevitz of Chabad-Lubavitch of Northwest Philadelphia, which serves the entire Northwest Philadelphia region, including Chestnut Hill, Mt. Airy, Roxborough, Manayunk, and East Falls.
Manayunk’s Hanukkah festivities offer a memorable way to celebrate the holiday season, fostering a sense of community spirit amidst the glow of thousands of lights. For more information about the events, visit the Manayunk Events page on their website.
