Major U.S. 422 Construction Set to Disrupt Traffic in Lower Pottsgrove

Traffic Alert

LOWER POTTSGROVE TWP, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is poised to launch an extensive construction project next week on U.S. 422, Sanatoga Road, and Porter Road. This ambitious $83.6 million endeavor aims to reconstruct and enhance a 2.1-mile stretch of the expressway, including significant bridge replacements between the Sanatoga Interchange and Porter Road in Lower Pottsgrove Township, Montgomery County.

The construction will bring significant travel restrictions, affecting daily commutes for local residents and through traffic. From Monday, November 18, to Friday, November 22, westbound U.S. 422 will experience intermittent single lane closures from 4:00 AM to 2:00 PM between Evergreen Road at the Sanatoga Interchange and Armand Hammer Boulevard. This is part of the ongoing road and bridge reconstruction efforts.

Similarly, Sanatoga Road and Porter Road will face intermittent single lane closures with 15-minute traffic stoppages from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM during the same dates. Sanatoga Road will be affected between E. High Street and Linfield Road, while Porter Road will experience closures between E. High Street and Sanatoga Station Road, both for bridge demolition activities.

Additionally, eastbound U.S. 422 will see intermittent single lane closures from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM between Keim Street and Evergreen Road. These closures are necessary to facilitate the road and bridge reconstruction tasks.

PennDOT advises motorists to anticipate delays and plan for additional travel time when navigating through these work zones. Patience and caution are encouraged, as backups and disruptions are inevitable. All planned construction activities are contingent on favorable weather conditions.
