Major Construction Planned on U.S. 422 and Local Roads in Lower Pottsgrove Township

Traffic, flagging

LOWER POTTSGROVE TOWNSHIP, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced significant roadwork on U.S. 422, Sanatoga Road, and Porter Road next week as part of an $83.6 million project to improve approximately 2.1 miles of roadway and replace bridges in Lower Pottsgrove Township.

The construction schedule includes intermittent single-lane closures and temporary traffic stoppages in key areas. On Monday, January 13, and Tuesday, January 14, westbound U.S. 422 will experience lane closures between Evergreen Road and Armand Hammer Boulevard from 4:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., while eastbound traffic will face closures between Keim Street and Evergreen Road from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

From Monday, January 13, through Friday, January 17, between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., intermittent lane closures with 15-minute traffic stoppages will be implemented on Sanatoga Road between East High Street and Linfield Road, as well as on Porter Road between East High Street and Sanatoga Station Road for bridge construction. Additionally, controlled blasting will require lane closures and occasional 15-minute stoppages on U.S. 422 in both directions from January 15 to January 17.

The project, designed to enhance road safety and rebuild infrastructure between the Sanatoga Interchange and Porter Road, is expected to significantly impact traffic. Motorists are advised to plan alternate routes and allow extra travel time, as delays and congestion are anticipated throughout the work areas. All operations are weather dependent.

PennDOT urges the public to exercise caution and patience as this extensive reconstruction effort progresses.
