Long-Term Ramp Closure Announced for I-95 Project

Travel Restrictions

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced that the Lombard Circle ramp to northbound I-95 at Penn’s Landing will be closed for approximately two years starting Tuesday, April 8. The closure is part of the extensive $329 million I-95/CAP project aimed at upgrading and replacing the covered section of I-95, while also improving connections between Center City and the Delaware River waterfront.

The closure is necessary to allow demolition of the current concrete pier located between the ramp and Columbus Boulevard, as well as the construction of new piers and foundations supporting the updated infrastructure.

During this extensive closure, northbound traffic on Columbus Boulevard will be redirected to the northbound I-95 on-ramp at Summer Street. Motorists should prepare for delays and are encouraged to plan for additional travel time in the area while the ramp remains inaccessible.

All work schedules remain subject to weather conditions. Stay ahead of delays—visit the MyChesCo Traffic Center for real-time updates and the latest on the I-95/CAP project!
