LANCASTER, PA — A man from Lititz, Pennsylvania, will face severe charges including rape of a child in the Lancaster County Court of Common Pleas, announced Lancaster County District Attorney Heather Adams. The case was moved forward following a preliminary hearing held before Magisterial District Judge Joseph Stauffer on Wednesday.
Walter Hernandez-Sosof, 28, of the first block of Pennwick Drive, is facing multiple charges. These include rape of a child, unlawful contact with a minor, aggravated indecent assault of someone less than 13 years old, incest of a minor, unlawful restraint of a minor by a parent, indecent assault of a person less than 13 years old, corruption of minors, and endangering the welfare of children.
First Deputy District Attorney Cody Wade presented testimony from the 10-year-old alleged victim during the preliminary hearing. The child testified about the abuse and claimed that Hernandez-Sosof threatened to shoot the child and their family if the child disclosed the abuse to anyone. The child also testified to having seen the defendant with a firearm in the past. The allegations of abuse were disclosed to family members and the Lancaster Children’s Alliance in December 2023.
Hernandez-Sosof is scheduled to be arraigned on March 22 at 9 a.m. He is currently free after posting $500,000 bail. The charges were filed by Sergeant Stephen Detz of the Lititz Borough Police Department.
As we continue to follow this case, it’s crucial to remember that these are just allegations. An arrest or charge does not constitute guilt. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. As more details emerge, we will provide updates on this ongoing case.
