RADNOR, PA — Lincoln Financial (NYSE: LNC) has announced the appointment of Jennifer (Jen) Charters as the new Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer, effective November 18, 2024. With 30 years of experience in financial services technology, Charters will lead the company’s enterprise-wide technology and digital strategy. Reporting directly to Chairman, President, and CEO Ellen Cooper, Charters will also join the Senior Management Committee.
Charters’ career highlights include her role as Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Flagstar Bank since 2018, where she led the IT organization. Before Flagstar, she was Chief Information Officer of Corporate Technology at Ally Financial. Her early career at Accenture involved large-scale systems development and process improvement across various sectors, including insurance and telecommunications.
Ellen Cooper expressed enthusiasm about Charters’ appointment: “As we continue to optimize our operating model, we are excited to welcome Jen to our team to further accelerate our technology modernization and innovation efforts. Jen is a seasoned technology executive with extensive experience driving business value through technology delivery.”
Charters succeeds Ken Solon, the current Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer, who plans to retire in early 2025 after a smooth transition. Cooper commended Solon’s contributions, stating, “He’s earned the reputation he has as an admired leader, who has shepherded our organization through numerous shifts in the technology landscape with a steadfast focus on our customer and employee experiences.”
With a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Michigan State University and an MBA from the University of Michigan, Charters is also an advocate for women in technology, reflecting Lincoln’s core values. Her leadership is anticipated to drive forward Lincoln Financial’s customer-centric technology initiatives, enhancing product delivery and market capabilities.
