BUCKS COUNTY, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced temporary lane closures on U.S. 1 in Bensalem and Middletown townships to facilitate construction activities associated with a $116 million initiative aimed at reconstructing, widening, and enhancing a three-mile stretch of the highway.

The closures will occur on Tuesday, April 1, and Wednesday, April 2, between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM, impacting both directions of U.S. 1 between Rockhill Drive and Fairhill Avenue. During this time, crews will activate a digital message board as part of the extensive construction project.

This work is part of PennDOT’s larger U.S. 1/RC2 contract, which includes significant upgrades spanning from south of the Rockhill Drive Interchange to north of the Penndel/Business U.S. 1 Interchange. The improvements are expected to enhance traffic flow and safety along this vital corridor.

Motorists are urged to allow for extra travel time and anticipate delays when commuting through the area. PennDOT also advises drivers to proceed with caution in the work zones. All planned work is contingent upon favorable weather conditions and may be adjusted accordingly.
