LANCASTER, PA — The Lancaster Stormers have strengthened their bullpen by re-signing right-hander Christian Scafidi for the 2025 season, manager Ross Peeples announced Thursday. Scafidi, 25, becomes the 17th player now under contract for the upcoming campaign, which kicks off on April 25 at Long Island.

A Philadelphia-area native, Scafidi joined the Stormers late last season after an impressive stint with the Lake Erie Crushers of the Frontier League. During his time with Lake Erie, he posted a stellar 1.37 ERA across 47 appearances, allowing just 32 hits and 13 walks over 52.1 innings of work. Following his acquisition, Scafidi made three regular-season appearances for Lancaster and pitched during the team’s sole victory in the 2024 North Division Series.

Manager Ross Peeples praised Scafidi’s contributions and potential value to the team. “Christian came in at the end of last year for our playoff push,” Peeples said. “He threw the ball really well. It jumps on you, which is tough for hitters to adjust to. He will fit in our bullpen and could play a few roles back there.”

Scafidi’s professional career began in 2022 in Italy, where he excelled with a 3-1 record and a 2.00 ERA for Bologna. He spent the following season with Rocky Mountain in the Pioneer League and Trois-Rivières in the Frontier League before his standout 2024 campaign with Lake Erie.

At the collegiate level, Scafidi earned Ivy League Pitcher of the Year honors in 2019 while playing for the University of Pennsylvania, finishing the season at 6-1 with a 2.62 ERA. He later made two starts for Notre Dame in 2021.
