Lancaster Stormers Re-Sign Carpenter and Johnson, Trade Dues to FerryHawks

LANCASTER, PA — The Lancaster Stormers have bolstered their roster for the 2025 season by re-signing first baseman/outfielder Joseph Carpenter and right-handed reliever Kyle Johnson. The team also announced the trade of second baseman Damon Dues to the Staten Island FerryHawks for a player to be named later.

Carpenter, 25, is gearing up for his fourth season with the Stormers. A standout from Cedar Crest and the University of Delaware, he has been a consistent offensive force, boasting a .291 batting average, 31 home runs, and 136 RBIs across 222 games. Carpenter also led the team with 16 home runs in the 2023 campaign, helping secure two championship titles and several second-half titles since joining Lancaster.

“’Carp’ has had a couple solid seasons for us,” said manager Ross Peeples. “He works his tail off, and we are excited to see him grow even more from last season. He’ll play first base, the outfield, and possibly even some third base.”

Joining Carpenter is Kyle Johnson, a 31-year-old reliever with previous stints in Lancaster. Johnson made a return to the Stormers in 2024 after time in the Chicago Cubs’ system and the American Association. Last season, he pitched in 26 games, recording three saves and contributing key performances during the team’s record-tying 15-game winning streak.

“Johnson will once again be a bullpen guy for us,” Peeples said. “He had spurts last year where he looked really good, and we are hoping that he can get back to that form after a full off-season of work.”

While welcoming Carpenter and Johnson back, the Stormers bid farewell to Damon Dues, who hit .322 with six home runs in 2024. Five of those home runs came against Staten Island, who will now add his talents to their roster.
