LANCASTER, PA — A Lancaster city man has pleaded guilty to a series of charges related to child sexual abuse and invasion of privacy. Arturo Aleman, 47, of the 100 block of Green Street, was sentenced last Wednesday to 10 to 20 years in prison, followed by five years of probation.

Aleman was convicted on charges of rape of a child, two counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, unlawful contact with a minor, corruption of minors, endangering the welfare of children, two counts of sexual assault, indecent assault of a person less than 16, indecent assault of a person less than 13, photographing/filming/depicting a sex act on a computer, sexual abuse of children/child pornography, criminal use of a communication facility, and invasion of privacy.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Elizabeth Lapp and presided over by Judge Dennis Reinaker. The victim, now 16 years old, disclosed the abuse to Detective Jessica Higgins of the Lancaster City Bureau of Police in October 2022. The victim revealed she was sexually abused by Aleman from approximately age eight until she was 12 while they resided in Reading, Pennsylvania. During this time, Aleman was the sole caretaker present with the victim.

Adding a further layer of horror to the case, the investigation revealed that Aleman had drilled a hole in the wall of the shower to secretly film the victim. Investigators discovered a video on Aleman’s cellphone that showed the victim in the shower, filmed from the genitals down to the mid-thigh.

The Berks and Lancaster County District Attorney’s Offices collaborated on the case, ultimately deciding that Lancaster would prosecute.
